(Locality). A river in Lancashire, England, also a town, lake, and river in Lennox, Scotland, whence the county derives its name. (See Lennox.) From the Welsh Llyfn, smooth, placid--the smooth river. The Gaelic Liomha-abhainn, pronounced Le-avon, signifies the same thing.
