John H. ANGST Biography

John H. Angst was born Feb. 24, 1873, in Pine Grove Township, where he gained his early education. During his younger manhood he followed teaching for ten terms in Pine Grove Township.

In the year 1900, he entered the employ of John F. Werntz in the Pine Grove Bank, with which he has been since connected.

Upon Mr. Werntz's death in 1909, Mr. Angst became cashier and the entire responsibility of conducting the bank fell into his hands. The bank is in sound condition with a paid-up capital of $95,000 and deposits of twice that amount, the resources of the institution amount to about $225,000.

Mr. Angst had careful training under Mr. Werntz and his ability has developed with the increase of his responsibilities. Under his management the affairs of the bank have been regulated intelli- gently and competently and its prestige increased.

Mr. Angst has served as School Director and Justice of the Peace in Pine Grove Township and in Nov., 1915, was elected a member of the Borough School Board with a flattering vote.

He is connected with the Masonic Fraternity, Royal Arcanum, Odd Fellows, and Red Men. He has an interesting family. His oldest child and only son, Roy, is a student at the Naval Academy, Annapolis.
