Professor G. Channell Biography
Professor G. Channell was born in Chester Co. He had learned the trade of plastering, then took up the profession of teaching, bad taught school in Bernville, Berks Co., taught in Llewellyn and Minersville, came to Pine Grove in 1871, taught the Pine Grove High school for some 30 odd years, taught the Pt. Carbon High school for 14 years. He was considered one of the best disciplinarians in the county.
He has two sons and three daughters: G. Wayne is a Methodist preacher and lives in Germantown, Philadelphia; James, a lawyer, and lives in Pottsville; Jennie lives in Tennessee; Eleanor is married to Edward Spangler; Maud was married to Geo. Erb and lives in Philadelphia. Mr. Channell served in the Civil War.
