John H. Cowden Biography
John H. Cowden, came to Pine Grove in 1852, was agent for the Union Canal Co., had charge of the weigh scales.
He was a widower and had one son and one daughter who married Major David Taggart, who was paymaster in the U. S. army.
Cowden owned the farm that John Beuchler now has; he went from here to Harrisburg where he died.
