Fusarini Family Biography
This is one of the oldest family names of Italy, and one of great prominence under the Doges of Venice. The name originally was Fosarini. They fell under the disfavor of the reigning Doge and were exiled from Venice some seven centuries ago. They then changed the spelling of the name and settled at Padua, which has since been the family seat. In the year 1900 a representative came to this country, and became the founder of this name in the United States.
(I) Peter Fusarini lived and died in the city of Padua, where he was engaged in the banking business. He married and had issue.
(II) Domenico, son of Peter Fusarini, was born in Padua, Italy, in 1835. He was a well educated man, a chief engineer under the government and spent his life in the cities of Milan and Naples, Italy. He joined in the revolution and was a soldier under the great leader, Garibaldi. He married Julia Pasquin, born in 1845. They were both members of the Roman Catholic church. He died February 19, 1912. Of their fourteen children two came to the United States: Charles, who later returned to his native land, he was a lieutenant in the Italian army; Henry, of whom further.
(III) Henry, son of Domenico and Julia (Pasquin) Fusarini, was born in the city of Milan, Italy. He was educated at the University of Naples, graduating from the department of engineering. He remained at the University as professor of the chair of mathematics four years, during which period he also acted as civil engineer for the archbishop of S. Andrea, of Avellino. In the year 1900 he came to the United States, locating in New York City, where he remained one year, then coming to Connellsville, Pennsylvania. There in partnership with Mr. Kail of that city he established in the banking business. After a few months they separated, Mr. Fusarini going to Dunbar, Pennsylvania, and starting a bank, remaining there one year. He then located in Uniontown, where he engaged in business at No. 42 East Main street, remaining until 1911. In that year he became manager of the foreign department of the Fayette Title & Trust Company of Uniontown, a position he most capably fills. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1905 and acts with the Republican party. He is a member of the Masouic Order; the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Owls.
He married, in Italy, in 1891, Eugenia Serao Calvanese, born in Naples, coming to the United States with two children and joining her husband in 1902. Children; Domenico, Mary, Julia, Sarah, Emil, Humbert, Ellen. Four children died in infancy. The last mentioned five children are of American birth.
