Kaiser Family Biography
The parents of William Frederick Kaiser were born in Europe, descending both from families long seated in that country.
(I) Erasmus Kaiser was born at Trieburg, Germany, December 25, 1826. He learned the jeweler's trade, and followed it in Germany until 1843, when he came to the United States, loeating at Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He worked there for a time with a Mr. Fortwanger. He later moved to Pittsburgh, South Side, where he continued at his trade until 1852, then came to Fayette county, settling at Brownsville. He established a jewelry business there which he conducted until his death, in August, 1902, He was a devoted Christian and for many years an clder of the Presbyterian church. In politics he was a Democrat. He married Katherine Eifner, born November 27, 1829, in Wrengotkrite, Bavaria; she survived him, and is a resident of Brownsville at the present time (1912 ). Children: 1. Charles Henry, born 1850, died in the spring of 1902. 2. Elizabeth, married Frank W. Facklin, of Tyrone, Pennsylvania. 3. Joseph Henry, now engaged in mining business near Goldfield, Nevada; he still retains his residence at Silver Creek, New York. 4. William Frederick, of whom further.
(II) William Frederick, youngest child of Erasmus and Katherine (Eifner) Kaiser, was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, October 10, 1871. He was edueated in the public schools and at Allegheny College. After leaving college he learned the jeweley trade and business under the instruction of his father. He became an expert jeweler, continuing his father's assistant until the death of the latter, then becoming owner of the business which he still continues. He is a Democrat in polities, and attends the Presbyterian church. He married, in 1901, Clara, born in Moline, Illinois, daughter of Robert Kerr and Mercy Ann Swan, both deceased.
