Old Catholic rules did not allow marriages during Lent. According to the
Catholic Encyclpedia of 1914
, the "season of Lent is a forbidden time for marriages". While Vatican II (1962 -1965) eased up these rules for today, we need to refer to the rules that were in place when our ancestors were married. By knowing the exact date for Easter (and the 40 days of Lent before) can help pinpoint when a marriage would not have taken place.
Check on the marriage rules in place for the religion of your ancestor.
